Three killed in shooting at California school

CALIFORNIA: Three people were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Northern California on Tuesday and the shooter was killed by law enforcement, Sacramento television station KCRA reported.

A number of students were airlifted as a result of the shooting at Rancho Tehama School near the community of Corning, the station reported, citing a sheriff’s official.

Witnesses near the school said they heard up to 100 shots being fired after a truck drove through the school’s gate, according to The Mirror.

Police said the shooting spree began at a home before moving on to a school, where there were “multiple” victims. A six-year-old girl was reportedly among the injured.

At least five crime scenes were being analysed by detectives.

Before the suspect was located, police had urged local residents to stay in their homes.

The school was locked down until it was cleared by police.
