Tareen not only beneficiary owner but retains autonomy over UK property: report

ISLAMABAD: After the examination of the trust deed of the London property that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Jahangir Tareen submitted in connection with the disqualification case against him, it has been proven that the PTI leader and his wife, Amina Tareen, are not only the beneficiary owners but also retain the complete autonomy over the property.

The trust deed was submitted before the Supreme Court during the proceedings of the disqualification case and after careful examination and consultation with experts, Tareen’s ownership of the house has been confirmed, reported a private media outlet.

The trust deed establishes that not only Jahangir Tareen and his wife Amina Tareen are “discretionary lifetime beneficiaries” of the property in Newbury, Hampshire, but they also retain full control over the trust and its assets, therefore, making Tareen and wife owners of the asset.

It is important to note that during the hearing of the case, Tareen had told the court that the Hyde House belongs to his children, therefore, he didn’t declare it before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

After the surfacing of the trust deed in Jahangir Tareen’s case, many experts are drawing comparisons with the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif, who was deposed after failing to report a salary accrued through his son’s business.
