- LaLiga president Tebas says Messi has a contract which has been renewed
MADRID: LaLiga president Javier Tebas has said that Lionel Messi has already signed a new deal with Barcelona.
The Argentine’s future has been the subject of debate, especially over the summer following the departure of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, but since then Barcelona’s bright start appears to have made him more settled.
“Messi has a contract which has been renewed,” Tebas said at a media event organised by the Europa Press. “Contracts are official when they are signed and not when it is announced that they have been signed. Messi has signed with Barcelona, if I have not been lied to, he has signed.”
COUTINHO FOR BARCELONA: Camp Nou legend and fellow Brazilian Ronaldinho pointed out that Coutinho would be an ideal signing for Barcelona as he has the flair and quality to succeed. The Liverpool forward was the subject of bids by Barcelona over the summer but in the end could not prise him away.
“I think the way he plays would be perfect there and I would be happy to see someone of his quality wearing the Barcelona shirt,” Ronaldinho told the Sky Sports. He also believes Coutinho is an essential piece in the Brazilian national team. “I like the way he plays and his style of play. These qualities can help Brazil to fight for the next World Cup,” he said.
