McCullum excited to see fearless Qalandars squad

LAHORE: Brendon McCullum, the fearless and selfless captain of PSL team Lahore Qalandars, has expressed confidence in the team performing well in the third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

In an exclusive video message, he said that he’s excited to see the new recruits of the Lahore Qalandars and the squad has a good blend of experienced and young cricketers. “I welcome all the new recruits to the Lahore Qalandars,” said the 36-year-old cricketer from New Zealand.

“I am absolutely excited about the squad that we have got, I think we have a good mix of youth and experienced players. We have got the squad made of guys who like to play attacking cricket and fearless cricket as well and also the selfless cricket,” he said. The former New Zealand captain mentioned Australian Chris Lynn as a good signing saying that he’s one of the most exciting batsmen in the shortest format of the game.

“To me, he (Chris Lynn) is the most exciting T20 batsman in the world at the moment and it’s fantastic that he’s going to join our ranks,” McCullum said. “He’s the guy whom all our fans in Lahore would look forward to watching and look forward to bringing him in the squad,” the former Kiwi skipper added.

The veteran of 101 Tests, 260 ODIs and 71 T20Is hoped that the new look squad of Lahore Qalandars will not let fans down in the next season. “This could be a big year for us, we are going to play exciting cricket and we hope that you will enjoy,” he said will addressing fans whom he also requested to get behind the squad.

Brendon McCullum also thanked those who were not retained by the Lahore Qalandars squad for the third edition and recognised their efforts for the franchise. “The Qalandars is a family as we known and we wish you guys all the very best for whatever the future hold for you with other teams you all have played a huge part for the Qalandars,” he said while addressing the players who were not retained.
