KARACHI: The traffic in Karachi went haywire with the arrival of President Mamnoon Hussain in the city on Tuesday.
The entire Shahrah-e-Faisal was blocked because of the president’s protocol, leading to a massive traffic jam on the main artery of the city.
It is pertinent to mention that Mamnoon Hussain had shown his disdain for the protocol offered when he was sworn in as the president. He had waived off his protocol stating that a person of his limited means did not require the state machinery to facilitate him.
However, during one of his state visits abroad recently, Senate Chairman Raza Rabbani who took oath as Acting President of Pakistan reinstated the protocol facilities after he was met with no formal greeting party during a visit to Karachi.
