ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has refused to continue the investigation in MQM founder Altaf Hussain’s case and decided to shift it to the anti-terrorism wing in Islamabad.

According to media reports, FIA officials have cited security concerns in the case filed against MQM founder. The case was shifted to Islamabad anti-terrorism wing from Karachi State Bank circular.

The case was registered against the party founder in October but FIA officials refused to initiate any investigations in the case due to security reasons.

FIA DG Bashir Memon has issued orders regarding the transfer of the case and all related documents were also handed over to investigation wing. The wing will monitor all activities of terror financing and money transferred in Altaf Hussain’s account through charity foundation Khidmat-e-Khalq (KKF).

It is vital to mention here that this case was registered against Altaf Hussain and KKF on the complaint of Sarfaraz Merchant. Other leaders of MQM including Arshad Vohra, Babar Ghori, and Khawaja Rehan Mansoor were also nominated as suspects in the case.
