Court re-issues notice to former ETPB chairman

LAHORE: An accountability court on Monday re-issued notices for November 30 to five accused, including Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) former chairman Syed Asif Akhtar Hashmi, in illegal appointments reference.

The accused had failed to appear before the court despite the issuance of notices on the last hearing.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had filed a reference against Hashmi and others over 777 illegal appointments made in the ETPB. Accountability Court Judge Khaqan Babar conducted the case proceedings.

It merits mention here that Hashmi served as the ETPB chairman from December 2008 to March 2013. Soon after completion of his tenure, he settled abroad. He was also accused of corruption in other cases.
