ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Monday expressed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in the devastating earthquake, measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale, that jolted the bordering regions between Iran and Iraq, thus leaving injured.
“The people and the government of Pakistan stand in complete solidarity with the people and the governments of Iran and Iraq in this hour of grief,” a statement released by the PM Office Media Wing quoted the prime minister as saying.
Abbasi also instructed the officials concerned to send assistance, including tents, blankets and other emergency related goods, to Iran on an urgent basis. The prime minister prayed for the departed souls and swift recovery of the injured.
On the other hand, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif extended his deepest condolences over the loss of lives in the tragic calamity, and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured persons.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed grief and sorrow over loss of lives and properties in the aftermath of the destructive earthquake.
It is important to mention here that the people and politicians of Pakistan have united in sharing the sorrow of the earthquake affected people in Iraq and Iran, and pledged to help people of both the middle-eastern countries by initiating relief efforts and emergency activities.
