Shoaib Malik appointed as captain of Multan Sultans

Multan Sultans – the sixth franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) — announced all-rounder Shoaib Malik as the team’s captain in a press conference on Sunday.

Wasim Akram, director cricket of Multan Sultans, said on Malik’s appointment, “Shoaib has been in the game all his life, and the rich experience that he possesses after featuring in almost every global T20 league, makes him the best choice to lead the unit.”

“His all-round contribution will significantly benefit every single player in the team, and I am very excited to see him perform in the next PSL season,” he added.

President Multan Sultans Asher Schon said, “We are thrilled to have Shoaib in our franchise, looking forward to him leading the unit courtesy his aggressive style of gameplay, and he definitely will have a huge impact for Multan Sultans this season both with bat & ball, and his magical fielding skills.”

The press conference also announced former Pakistan test cricketer Nadeem Khan as team manager, batsmen Mohammad Wasim as the team’s batting mentor, former Proteas skipper Johan Botha as assistant coach and former Indian cricket team’s physiotherapist Andrew Leipus as physiotherapist for Multan Sultans during the third edition of the PSL.

The announcement came before the players draft for the third edition of PSL which is all set to take place today and Multan Sultans will be the sixth and latest team to feature in the league.
