MUMBAI: Veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has expressed a wish to see Pakistan before he dies and hoped his children are able to go to Pakistan to see their roots.

The actor made the remarks in a late night tweet, where he commented on the statement of Farooq Abdullah, the former chief minister of Indian held Kashmir, who the other day said the Pakistan side of Kashmir belongs to Pakistan and demanded more autonomy for the Indian side of Kashmir from New Delhi.

Kapoor’s tweet stated: Farooq Abdhulla ji, Salaam! Totally agree with you, sir. J&K is ours, and PoK is theirs. This is the only way we can solve our problem. Accept it, I am 65 years old and I want to see Pakistan before I die. I want my children to see their roots.

Kapoor, whose activities on Twitter often go viral, originally hails from Peshawar.

The family’s ancestral haveli is located in the Kissa Khwani Bazaar locality of the old city.

The house was constructed by Dewan Basheshwarnath Kapoor, father of Prithviraj Kapoor and grandfather of Raj Kapoor in 1918.

Among the notable members of the family Trilok Kapoor, Prithiviraj’s younger brother, and Raj Kapoor were born there, according to The Hindu. However, after the Partition in 1947, the family moved to India.

Rishi is said to have visited the family home in 1990 while shooting a film in Pakistan, according to some media reports.
