PTI MNA promises compensation package for Talagang accident victims

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) member of National Assembly (MNA) Shehryar Khan Afridi on Sunday said that the provincial government will soon announce compensation package for those killed and injured in the ill-fated bus accident a few days ago in Talagang district of Chakwal.

As many as 27 passengers were killed and over 50 critically injured when a Lahore-bound bus, carrying residents of Mandoori village (Kohat district) to the annual religious congregation in Raiwind, fell into a ravine in Talagang.

Talking to reporters, he appreciated the efforts of the people of Talagang, district administration and Chakwal Nazim for quickly reaching the accident spot and supervising relief and rescue operations.

The Chakwal district administration promptly shifted the injured to the hospitals and provided all necessary support, including ambulances and coffins, to shift the bodies to Mandoori. The Chakwal district Nazim also attended the mass funeral prayers of the deceased at Mandoori village to express solidarity with the bereaved families.

Shehryar Afridi said that Kohat district management and leadership of all political parties visited the village to condole with the bereaved families. He said he personally visited houses of the victims and met with elders of the village to assure all possible moral and financial assistance.

Afridi also said that he would soon hold a meeting with the provincial authorities to announce special packages for the families of the victims, while adding that he would also inquire after the health of the injured, who are presently admitted to various hospitals of Rawalpindi.
