Five injured in Khuzdar blast

–QESCO office in Quetta hit with grenade

KHUZDAR/QUETTA: At least five people were injured in blast near the boundary wall of a cricket stadium in Khuzdar, a district of Balochistan. The blast took place on late Sunday night when the final match of a local cricket tournament was underway.

Balochistan Police said the nature of the blast has yet to be determined.

Following the incident, the law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area surrounding the blast site and the wounded were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri condemned the blast, saying the extremists won’t succeed in their nefarious activities.

The blast in Kuzdar came on the heels of a grenade attack at a QESCO office in Quetta. Unidentified assailants attacked the office of Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) in the late evening; however, no causalities were reported.

Police said that unknown culprits hurled a hand grenade at the QESCO office located in Satellite Town, Quetta, which had damaged the office.

The police cordoned off the area in the aftermath of the attack and launched a search operation to nab the culprits who, however, had managed to escape.
