The police foiled a bid to smuggle arms to Punjab, seized a weapons-laden vehicle and arrested an accused here on Sunday.
The police, during search of a Dera Ismail Khan bound suspected vehicle with fake number plate coming from Dara Adam Khel at Gulshanabad check post in Kohat, recovered cache of arms and arrested arms smuggler Sameed Gul, resident of Matni, Peshawar. The nabbed accused pretended to be an official of Food Department.
The recovered arms included 20 pistols of 9MM, 37 chargers and 800 bullets of different bores. The nabbed arms smuggler in the preliminary interrogation revealed that recovered weapons were being smuggled to Dera Ismail Khan from where these were to be transported to different areas of Punjab and Sindh.
