Over 1000 students participate in IT competition


ISLAMABAD: More than 1,000 students from 35 universities across the country participated in the national IT competition organised by COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) Wah Campus on Saturday.

Enthusiastically participating in the 15th episode of Visio Spark 2017, organized by CIIT department of computer sciences, the students demonstrated their expertise and skills in different IT competitions. The objective of the event was to provide an opportunity to future IT professionals to exhibit their skills and to get them familiarised with the latest trends of the fast-developing IT sector.

Competitions at the event included software projects, quizzes, on-spot programming, e-gaming, poster designing, IT mushaira, mobile app development, web development, logo designing and code debugging.

Speaking on the occasion, CIIT Wah Campus Director Prof Dr Tayyeb Akram appreciated the efforts of students and the organisers of Visio Spark for arranging the event and providing students with an opportunity to exhibit their IT skills. He further urged the students to take advantage of such co-curricular activities to enhance their professional skills.

Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) Chairman Barkan Saeed, at the closing ceremony, appreciated the work of students and contributions of CIIT in the promotion of IT.

In his concluding remarks, department of computer sciences head Dr Ehsanullah Munir reiterated CIIT’s resolve to produce world-class IT professionals equipped with the latest skills to meet the contemporary era’s requirements.

Later, shields, certificates and cash awards were distributed among the winners of the different competition.
