LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Saad Rafique on Saturday said that attempts to bring back former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf as a political leader will not be successful.

In a series of tweets, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said that this policy of breaking and making political parties needs to end.

He further tweeted that the merger of MQM-P and PSP was engineered and hence it failed within 24 hours.

Musharraf said on Friday that if elections do not resolve the issues facing the country at the moment, then things will have to be taken care of in some other manner. He added that the army and Supreme Court should only be concerned about Pakistan’s well-being and nothing else.

The Pakistan Awami Ittehad was formed on Friday under Musharraf’s leadership.

An office has been opened in Islamabad after the alliance got finalised, according to the former president.

Musharraf also said that the country should get rid of both the PML-N and PPP, adding that PPP is now finished in Punjab.

He said this in a teleconference the other day.

Musharraf, who left for Dubai in March 2016, also said that he was ready to come back to the country to face cases registered against him. The former president stated that the situation in the country was already very tense and he did not want to add to that confusion in any way whatsoever.
