LAHORE: A top-level huddle of religious parties’ leaders, including leaders from Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and other parties, has decided to revive the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, a coalition of religio-political parties of Pakistan.
Speaking to media flanked by the leaders from other parties, JI chief Sirajul Haq said they have decided in principle to restore the MMA, of which a formal announcement would be made next month in Karachi.
He said a consensus on the restoration of the MMA was achieved in the light of recommendations presented at the meeting and they would hold a meeting of at the residence of Shah Owais Noorani in Karachi in the mid of December.
“We understand that elections should be held on time, in accordance with the constitution,” Siraj said, adding that the absent parties will also be approached in this regard.
