KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair on Friday appreciated the relentless support extended by Turkey to Pakistan in trying times, albeit unfavourable odds.

He said this while talking to a delegation of Turkish officials from the finance and economics departments, along with investors and businessmen who called on him at the governor house.

“Bilateral relations between the two countries are gaining stability with every passing day,” he told the delegation attending the “Rising Pakistan Exposition” in the metropolis.

Federal Trade and Industries Minister Pervaiz Malik and other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

“An important aspect of Pakistan-Turkey relationship is that it is based on mutual respect,” Pervaiz Malik said, acknowledging that Pakistan has learnt and can learn a lot still from Turkey’s development and progress.

The Sindh governor said that the rapidly changing situation in the global arena makes it all the more important that the two countries further enhance their relationship.

“We need to enhance people-to-people contact besides maintaining a constant exchange of citizens and professionals from different walks of life in order to strengthen mutual confidence,” he added.

Zubair further said that strong presence of participants from across the world in the Rising Pakistan Exposition reflects that Pakistan is on the track of development.

Following the restoration of law and order, the government is now extensively focusing on public welfare projects as well as infrastructure development in Karachi, the commercial hub of the country, he told the delegation.

The Turkish delegation led by M Balta said that his country and its people hold their Pakistani brothers in high esteem.

He agreed that it was equally beneficial for the two countries to strengthen their trade and economic relationships in the changing world environment. Balta also said that investors from Turkey were very interested in initiating feasible projects in varied sectors of Pakistan.
