KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan leader Farooq Sattar on Friday asked the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to de-seat Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra and disallow him from holding public office.

In the letter addressed to the ECP chief, the MQM-P leader demanded immediate issuance of a notification to de-seat Vohra stating that his joining of Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party is in violation of the party constitution. He further demanded that a by-election be called after the disqualification of Vohra.

The MQM-P leader, in his letter to the ECP, also stated that during a consultative session of the party held on Nov 3, the party members had authorised Sattar to pursue legal action against Vohra.

On October 29, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader and Karachi Deputy Mayor Arshad Vohra had announced to join Mustafa Kamal’s Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

However, PSP Chairman Mustafa Kamal in a public gathering had stated that keeping in view ECP’s judgement in Ayesha Gulalai’s case, the party would not ask Vohra to quit public office.
