PTI MNA claims Ali Amin Gandapur patronising suspects of assault on girl

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: An MNA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Dawar Khan Kundi on Thursday alleged that people involved in an assault on the girl of the area are being protected and supported Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.

In a letter written by Kundi, he alleged that Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is related to the family which carried out the attack.

Kundi, who was elected from Tank (NA-25), also asked PTI Chairperson Imran Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister to remove Ali Amin from the post.

Reacting to the allegations, Gandapur said that Kundi’s motive behind the allegations is his personal interests. “Kundi is a political rival and is forcing the girls to say what he wants,” he added.

Earlier, two suspects out of the eight arrested for involvement in assault confessed to the crime.

The suspects have been remanded into police custody and are currently being investigated. However, the prime suspect, identified as Sajawal, has yet to be apprehended.

The incident occurred on October 27, when the 16-year-old girl was returning home when men surrounded her, stripped her naked and forcefully made her walk in the locality for an hour. The girl’s screams for help fell on deaf ears as no one came to her rescue.

The witnesses’ claimed that nobody came to help her because they were scared.

The girl was ‘punished’ for her brother’s behaviour. Around three-years-ago, her brother, identified as Sajjad, got involved in a relationship with a girl from the village.

A panchayat (village council) gathered and had fined Sajjad’s family Rs0.25million to resolve the matter. The tehsil nazim was also a part of the decision-making process.

According to a press release, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have assigned the task of supervising the investigation to Regional Police Officer Fida Hassan Shah for a swift and impartial conclusion of the case.

The FIR, number 210, has been registered at DI Khan Chaudhwan Police Station.
