PESHAWAR:The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) through a press release has informed that a security forces jawan was killed in a militant attack against a post at Raajgaal area of Tirrah Valley, Khyber Agency during early hours on Thursday. In retaliation, the security forces shot dead five terrorists and injured four others.

The ISPR informed that a group of militants from across the border in Afghanistan attacked a security forces check post in Raajgaal in Tirrah valley. The militants resorted to indiscriminate firing against occupants of the check post, martyring one Pakistani soldier. The deceased security person was identified as Mohammad Ilyas.

According to ISPR, “Exploiting absence of any control in Afghan border areas, terrorists fired on newly established Pakistan’s post in Rajgal valley Khyber Agency at multiple places. Pakistan army troops responded effectively. Reports of five terrorists killed and four injured. During exchange of fire, Sepoy Mohammad Ilyas embraced Shadat.”

So far no individual or militant group has issued any statement regarding the latest attack on Pakistan security forces check post on Pak Afghan border at Raajgaal. Confirmation of encounter between security forces and militants is impossible due to lack of media access in the area, as security forces recently claimed the area being cleared off militants during the Khyber four military action.

From the last several years, Pakistan has been raising concerns about the Afghan government’s failure of taking action against the militants sheltering across the border in Afghanistan, although Pakistani authorities claim positive impacts of its border management, particularly fencing of Pak Afghan border at different points.

Meanwhile, tribal sources told Pakistan Today that security forces late Wednesday initiated military action against suspected militants in Boobar and Shaktoyee areas of South Waziristan. Both the areas of Tehsil Makeen of Ladha sub division are adjacent to Razmak town of North Waziristan and almost all of its dwellers have already been shifted to Baraan camp in frontier region of Bakakhel near southern Bannu city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

So far no official statement has been issued regarding the latest military action against suspected terrorists in the two areas occupied by Mehsud tribesmen in South Waziristan.
