KARACHI: Sindh former health minister Dr Junaid on Thursday announced to join the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in a meeting with its Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Dr Junaid, president of hockey association, is one of the disgruntled Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) members, who left the party to join PPP on the second day of MQM-Pakistan’s “alliance”—now broken— with Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).

Khushbakht Shujaat and Ali Rashid had met Zardari on Tuesday while Salman Mujahid Baloch and Dr Fauzia had met him Wednesday. However, these leaders have not announced joining the PPP.

It is pertinent to mention here that another parliamentarian Syed Ali Raza Abidi had also announced leaving MQM-P as soon as the joint press conference of Dr Farooq Sattar and PSP chief Mustafa Kamal had started.

On the other hand, MQM’s Rabita Committee met on Thursday to handle the situation as prominent leaders repeatedly showed concern over the alliance with PSP.
