Nawaz attacking state institutions to save his billions: Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif was attacking and seeking to destroy state institutions simply to try and “save his billions of rupees that have been plundered from the nation”.

The PTI chairman took to Twitter to express his opinion on the disqualified premier’s comments from earlier in the day when he claimed the judges were full of anger and grudge against him.

Imran stated that Nawaz should be ashamed of himself for openly attacking SC judges simply because they exposed his ill-gotten money & corruption.

“Nawaz is attacking and seeking to destroy state institutions simply to try and save his billions in loot plundered from the nation,” he further wrote.

Earlier, the ousted prime minister, while criticising the country’s judiciary on Wednesday, stated, “the anger and grudges of judges have come out in their words”. He made these remarks while addressing the media after leaving the accountability court which indicted him in person in the three corruption references against him.

Referring to the Supreme Court’s detailed verdict announced on Tuesday and rejection of Nawaz’s review petitions in the Panama Papers case, Nawaz stated that this will mark a “dark chapter in Pakistan’s history”.

While referring to the accountability court’s dismissal of his plea to club the three references, Nawaz stated that he was aware that the accountability court decision would not be in his favour.
