LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) selection committee has reportedly decided to drop opening batsman Ahmad Shehzad from the proposed three-match T-20I series against West Indies.

According to reports, the committee’s decision was made keeping in mind Shehzad’s deteriorating batting performances.

The selection committee along with head coach Mickey Arthur has finalised the 14-member national team squad for the proposed West Indies series. The committee has proposed Arthur to give all-rounder Aamir Yameen or Muhammad Nawaz a chance in the coming series to observe their performance.

In the recent series against Sri Lanka, Shehzad was benched as he failed to make a mark in the innings despite multiple chances.

The right-hand batsman scored a miserly 27, 22 in the two T20I matches respectively; while his score in the ODI series was 0 and 8, respectively.

Shehzad, who has 13 Tests, 81 ODIs and 53 T20Is under his belt has also been released by the Pakistan Super League’s franchise Quetta Gladiators. His fate in the league will be decided in the drafts scheduled to be held on November 12 in Lahore.
