KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah, taking serious notice of the re-emergence of encroachments on the main roads by showroom owners, has directed Inspector General of Police (IGP) to personally remove them and take action against the delinquent policemen who allowed them.

The chief minister talking to IGP AD Khowaja said that he had directed DIG (Traffic) to remove all the encroachments made by showroom managements on the main roads as they were not part of their showrooms.

“The encroachments were removed from the roads and again they have reemerged on Tariq Road, Khalid Bin Waleed Road, Jamshed Road, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Clifton and in the areas of Nazimabad,” said the CM and added that this shows that it has been done in connivance with the officers concerned and policemen.

“I would take strict action against the involved officers,” he said and added, “I am working hard to make this city free of encroachments, but they emerge again and again and this is not acceptable at all.”

Murad Ali Shah said that he would start visiting the city next week and take strict action against the encroachments, filth and garbage, and absence of staff in offices, police stations and local government offices.

The IGP assured the chief minister that he would personally monitor the removal of encroachments on the roads, particularly by the showrooms.
