PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry insists on early elections

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesman Chaudhry Fawad said on Sunday that the party does not want a delay in elections but instead demands early elections in the country.

In a video message, he suggested that all assemblies, provincial as well as national, should be dissolved after consultation with the stakeholders.

He said that if this is agreed upon then PTI will also dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, where it holds a majority.

The party spokesperson also added that PTI wants the delimitations bill to be discussed in the Council of Common Interests before it is made into a law.

Chaudhry said that any delay in the elections on the basis of the non-passing of the delimitations bill will not be accepted, adding that the spirit of democracy lies in the elections, not the census.

Political parties have yet to pass legislation on the delimitation of constituencies, deemed as a constitutional necessity by the Election Commission of Pakistan, with regards to the holding of general elections next year.
