Marriyam lashes out at Imran for his ‘lies’

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb on Sunday stated that Imran Khan should present himself in the anti-terrorist court from which he has been running.

The state minister was responding to Imran Khan’s rhetoric at public rallies and said that instead of lying unabashedly, the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chief should account for his lies in the Supreme Court and appear before the anti-terrorism court.

The state minister said further that a person who gambled with his party’s funds and donations could not be expected to fill the national exchequer. She alleged that Imran indulged in corruption even while running the tree plantation campaign.

Challenging the democratic credentials of Imran Khan, Marriyum said that in 2014 Imran tried to have the assemblies dissolved but returned after attacking the parliament. His statement on Sunday to dissolve the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly was also very regrettable, she added.

Aurangzeb asked Imran to unlock the KP Ehtesab Commission, answer the questions posed by Ayesha Gulalai and to apprise people of the fate of the Bank of Khyber scandal.

Responding to Imran’s repeated rhetoric about NRO, she said that there would only be one NRO – that of the people – and Imran would have to leave the country as its result.

In a stinging comment, Marriyum asked whether Imran did not have fear of God. Referring to the new wave of his public rallies, she asked, “Are they not a new instalment of the third sit-in?”
