ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi have decided to appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) tomorrow (Monday) in a graft case for possessing assets beyond their known sources of income.

According to reports, the NAB Lahore had sought details of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Pervez Elahi’s assets, and summoned them in a case of misuse of authority and having assets beyond known sources of income on November 6.

The Chaudhry brothers have said that they would fully cooperate with NAB in its investigations as their hands are clean. The corruption case against them is also a part of NAB’s 179 mega corruption cases which the bureau had submitted in the Supreme Court in 2015.

According to the latest status of this list, the case against the PML-Q leadership has been at the stage of ‘investigation’. The NAB had given the date of completing this case on September 30, 2017, but the investigation could not be completed within the given time frame and is still under process.

The sources said that the ex-prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and ex-Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi were involved in a Rs2.42 billion corruption case.  A case against the Chaudhrys of Gujrat was also framed in 2000 before their joining the then military dictator Pervez Musharraf.

The NAB had also summoned sons of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and PTI leader Aleem Khan tomorrow (November 6).
