RAWALPINDI: Traffic load on city roads, particularly Murree Road, has become a source of nuisance for the citizens as traffic wardens have failed to ensure smooth flow of traffic on the main artery of the federal capital.

Long queues of vehicles were seen on the road at all times, particularly during peak hours, and traffic jams were a common sight on other important roads of the city as well. Long queues of vehicles were seen on Murree Road, Liaquat Road, College Road, Raja Bazaar, Marrir Hassan, Tench Bhatta, Mall Road, and other roads of the capital.

The motorists coming from Islamabad were earlier using Rawal Road to reach their destinations but, nowadays, this particular route had also become congested.

According to Traffic Police Spokesman Wajid Satti, all-out efforts were being made to regulate the traffic load, but due to illegal parking in different parts of the city, the traffic wardens were also facing problems while clearing main roads and intersections.

He said that Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Yousaf Ali Shahid also visited different roads and directed the traffic wardens to work hard to ensure smooth flow of traffic.

A motorist, namely Ali, while talking reporters, said that encroachments were the main hurdle in the way of smooth flow of traffic, but the authorities concerned have failed to remove these encroachments.

He urged the authorities concerned to take strict action against the violators of traffic rules so that traffic woes of the federal capital could be resolved at the earliest.
