LONDON: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who has been undergoing regular checkups at West London Hospital over the past week and who, it was speculated, might have to undergo an angioplasty, was discharged from the hospital on Saturday.
Doctors at the hospital have advised complete rest to Dar, while he is expected to undergo another checkup next week, sources reported. The minister’s son Ali Dar and other family members are also with Dar in London to look after him.
On Thursday, an accountability court rejected a fresh application from Dar asking to be exempted from court proceedings. The court maintained his bailable arrest warrants in a corruption reference filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for owning assets beyond his means. It also endorsed NAB’s request to freeze Dar’s assets and properties based in Pakistan.
