5.1 earthquake jolts parts of KP, Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR: An earthquake of high intensity jolted various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Khyber Agency on Saturday, but no causality or property loss was reported from anywhere.

According to the geological wing of Pak-Met, tremours measuring 5.1 on Richter scale were felt in Peshawar, Swat, Tarbela Ghazi surroundings and Kurram Agency.

People of the areas where the quake was felt rushed out of their homes in panic reciting verses from Holy Quran.

However, no human or property loss was reported from the areas where the earthquake was felt.

The centre of the quake was stated to be 35 kilometre south-east of Parachinar, 35 kilometres inside earth’s crust.
