LAHORE: In a step towards the betterment of healthcare facilities, installation of Computerized Tomography (CT) scan machines is underway at 36 district headquarters (DHQ) Hospitals across Punjab.
CT scan machines, which are an important part of the diagnostic stage of various diseases, are an expense which has historically been spared in the Punjab healthcare department. Many instances of leading hospitals in the province not having adequate healthcare facilities and lack of new machinery and technological advancement, has resulted in problems for both the patients and the medical staff.
However, in a move that will surely be a landmark achievement of the current administration, Hitachi CT scans machines are being installed in the public hospitals on a pay-as-you-perform model, the first of its kind in the province.
Five of these machines have already been installed in the hospitals whereas plans are underway to equip 36 DHQ hospitals with these machines by the end of 2018.
