ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) has on Friday ordered an investigation to probe an alleged social media campaign being run to defame Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Shehryar Afridi.
Afridi had lodged a complaint with the FIA claiming that there is an organised social media campaign being run against him.
“The propaganda has put me under severe mental stress,” the MNA stated in his application.
“I am facing character assassination on Facebook and other social media websites, and this propaganda is affecting the credibility of a parliamentarian,” the MNA stated further in the application.
Taking immediate notice of the complaint, the FIA director directed an inquiry into the matter.
