- Says Nawaz was sent home for stashing Rs300bn abroad
BAHAWALPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Thursday said that the Supreme Court gave complete chance to Nawaz Sharif to clarify as to how Rs300 billion that he earned were sent abroad, adding Sharif was attacking the courts to hide his corruption.
Addressing a gathering in Uch Sharif, the PTI chief once again criticised Nawaz saying, “The one who took away Rs300 billion asks why he was ousted.”
“Nawaz Sharif lied and failed to present a single document as evidence,” he said adding, “When the JIT was formed, even then no evidence was provided to substantiate their claims.”
The PTI chief questioned Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as to why was a criminal [Nawaz Sharif] was being given protocol. “What message is being conveyed? Does this mean one should not steal small things and go for bigger ones?” he questioned, lamenting that prisons in the country are overcrowded with poor people involved in petty crimes.
Imran Khan also said that each Pakistani owed Rs124,000 in debt today, which was Rs35,000 before 2008, after Zardari and Nawaz came into power.
Noting that Rs200 billion is being spent on Orange Line Train that covers only 27 kilometres, the PTI chairman said that if a lesser amount is given to farmers, then it would bring prosperity in the country. He added that his party, after coming into power, will provide highest capital and facilities to farmers.
He also said that the government helps weaker classes only if it receives money through taxation, but the money meant for public welfare is taken abroad. He reiterated that corruption devastated nations and the people in the country did not have resources to get their children educated these days.
“Pakistanis purchased Rs800 billion worth of properties in Dubai during the last four years,” he said, adding, “Had this amount been spent here, then people would have got jobs to support themselves.”
Boasting about his own achievement, Imran said that the KP government successfully planted 1 billion trees in the province which was a landmark achievement. “The coal power plants which have been built will deteriorate the environment further,” he added.
