KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar on Wednesday said municipal utility charges and tax are an important revenue source of KMC and all-out efforts should be made to make the concerned department and staff operational so that the survey work, data upgrading, bill printing and distribution system could be made effective and speedy.

He said this while presiding over a meeting on MUCT in his office, which was attended by MUCT Committee Chairman Rahat Hussain Siddiqui, Finance Committee Chairman Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi, Advisor to Mayor Farhat Khan, Finance Senior Director Rehan Khan, MUCT Senior Director Raza Abbas Rizvi, Technical Director SM Shukaib and other officers.

KMC provides basic municipal services to citizens like providing better environment and cleanliness, tree plantation, fire brigade and rescue facility, parks and recreation and healthcare facilities and in order to continue such services it needs resources, he said. “All departmental heads who deal with recovery of revenue should, therefore, bring improvement in their works so that we could provide even better services to citizens,” Akhtar added
