HYDERABAD: A district court on Wednesday approved the bail of three brothers who were arrested the previous day for allegedly assaulting a polio vaccination team.
The magistrate hearing the case set brothers Saeed, Shahid and Faisal free against a bail of Rs15,000.
The accused were arrested from their house in Heerabad Qureshi area of the city after they had reportedly assaulted a polio team over an argument relating to the administering of polio drops to their children. They argued that they had administered the drops to the eligible children of the family already and that they did not want the children to given the drops again.
The officials of the vaccine team claim, however, that they acquired the family’s permission for administering the drops to the children, but were later assaulted by the family’s male members.
Police arrested the three brothers following the incident.
A province-wide polio immunisation campaign is underway in Sindh until Friday.
