48th KP Apex Committee meeting held under chairmanship of governor

PESHAWAR: The 48th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Apex Committee meeting was held on Wednesday at Governor House Peshawar, under the chairmanship of KP Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra.

The meeting was also attended by civil and military officials concerned, including KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak and Peshawar corps commander.

The forum reviewed the security situation of the province, including rehabilitation activities undertaken in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and progress of military operation Radd-ul-Fasaad.

A detailed briefing was given by the military officials on efforts regarding peace and stability, progress on various developmental projects in FATA, and measures taken to enhance the border management along the Pak-Afghan border.

Participants acknowledged the efforts of the army, intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies in the fight against terrorism, and pledged that concerted joint efforts would continue to energise the National Action Plan in order to eradicate the causes of terrorism and militancy.

Further, the participants appreciated the tremendous efforts being undertaken by the security forces in border management, especially in regard to the construction of border fence along the Pak-Afghan border which would help in controlling cross-border terrorist movement.

The forum also discussed FATA reforms in detail and pledged to boost the process by constituting a committee to chalk out plans related to future course of action. It was also decided that efforts would be made to ensure that the benefits of CPEC were also shared by the people of FATA.

Later, civil officials of the provincial government and FATA Secretariat also briefed the participants on various developmental projects undertaken to improve the quality of life of the local population.
