Zardari refuses to meet Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Asif Ali Zardari has once again refused to meet former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, giving the task of restoring contacts between PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain.

Earlier reports had revealed that a mutual friend of the two leaders was trying to set up a meeting between them to bring the two sides closer.

Sources reveal that the “mutual friend” was a senior federal minister, who tried to contact Zardari both personally and through PPP members. Zardari, however, refused to respond to these attempts.

Among several differences which keep Zardari from meeting Sharif is the ongoing Dr Asim Hussain case, according to reports.
