Two accused held in Tax Refund Scam

KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested Luqman Javed and Abdul Hameed Agar, proprietors of private firms, in a Sales Tax Refund Scam. According to a press release of NAB issued on Tuesday, the accused were nominated in a corruption case in which Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) official Abdul Rauf Nasir was an alleged beneficiary.

The held individuals committed the tax scam by receiving tax refunds on the basis of fake and bogus invoices, incurring a loss of Rs 120 million to the national exchequer.  They will be produced before the local accountability court for remand.
