Polling for Supreme Court Bar Association elections begins

ISLAMABAD: Polling on Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) elections has begun in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Quetta on Tuesday, according to reports.

The polling hours are from 9:00-5:00 am and the polling will continue without any interval.

Polling is also underway in Multan, Bahawalpur, and Abbottabad where polling stations have also been established.

The candidates of Asma Jehangir group and Hamid Khan group are up for a close contest for the seat of president of the SCBA.

Syed Muhammad Kaleem Ahmed Khursheed is the nominee of Jehangir’s Independent group, while Hafiz Abdul Rehman Ansari has been nominated by the Hamid Khan-led Professional group.

As many as 44 candidates are contesting the election for 22 seats of the association.

Most of the registered 2,289 voters are based in Lahore.

Chairman Election Board Afrasiyab Khan is monitoring the election process.
