Punjab police on Tuesday arrested an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for being involved in the kidnapping case of a couple abducted on June 5 from outside their house in Rawalpindi.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Haj Tariq, Westridge police arrested ASI Mohammad Jahangir for his involvement in the kidnapping of a husband and his wife. He said that the accused was presented before a magistrate court after which a physical remand was granted to police.
Furthermore, the SHO said that police investigations showed the involvement of the accused in other kidnapping cases as well, adding that the nabbed ASI was running an organised crime ring with the involvement of two constables.
The officer also said that the two constables involved in the kidnapping were currently stationed at a police station in Chakwal, adding that a police team had been constituted to apprehend them.
