NEW YORK: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) committed a grave mistake by leaving two dead bodies it was supposed to fly from New York City to Karachi at the former city’s airport.
Expressing regret over the incident, PIA Spokesperson Mashood Tajwar said that the mistake was made by the luggage handling agency’s negligence at New York.
He further commented that PIA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Musharraf Rasool had taken notice of the incident and ordered the airline to undertake all the funeral proceedings. Legal action will be taken against those responsible for the blunder, Tajwar added.
Of the two forgotten bodies, one is now being buried in a graveyard in Maryland, and the other will be flown to Pakistan via Etihad Airways, as per the relevant families’ consent.
