Jail admin provides Sharjeel Memon with special facilities

KARACHI: Former minister and imprisoned Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Sharjeel Inam Memon has been provided with various facilities despite being jailed for corruption charges.

Sharjeel Memon faces trial in a corruption case of more than Rs 5 billion. National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorities arrested the PPP leader in Karachi last week.

However, Memon seems to be enjoying special perks and privileges in jail that are not available for other inmates. As per reports, the PPP leader has been provided with a bed and an air-conditioner for his comfort.

He has also been provided with comfortable seats for visiting guests who are allowed to stay past the allotted visitation time.

Former minister and 11 others were arrested for allegedly embezzling Rs. 5.766 billion paid to advertising agencies for awareness campaigns between 2013 and 2015.
