RAWALPINDI: Iran’s ambassador on Tuesday appreciated Pakistan Army’s contributions to peace and stability in the region.
Iran’s Ambassador Mehdi Honardoost met with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the General Headquarters to discuss matters relating to regional security.
During this meeting, the envoy praised Pakistan’s efforts against terrorism and said that the two countries should keep working for better relations.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Iranian envoy and COAS also discussed Pak-Iran border management, visits and exchanges during their meeting.
Earlier in October this year, both the neighbours had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster improved border security management.
The MoU was signed during a two-day meeting of Pak-Iran Joint Border Commission in Gwadar.
The two also discussed joint proposals relating to border situation, security matters, immigration and border trade between the two countries.
