Imran Khan on Tuesday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will oppose any legislation aiming to delay the general elections.

His tweet comes a day after he alleged that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif seemed to be desperate for another National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO)-like deal.
“He is desperate for NRO to avoid conviction on money laundering and save his Rs300 billion stashed abroad from being frozen,” Imran had tweeted.

In another tweet, he castigated Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, saying, “PM Abbasi rapidly reducing Pak to a banana republic. He is playing poodle to a discredited NS & retaining fugitive from justice as Finance Minister.”

It is crucial to mention here that a high-level Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz huddle in London, on Monday, had decided that Nawaz would continue as the head of the PML-N but also tone down his tirade against state institutions on the basis of his “unfair trial”.
The former prime minister had said that he will return to Pakistan to attend the corruption trial against him on Friday.
Commenting on PML-N’s meeting, PTI chief said: “London Game Plan obvious now: Nawaz will retain control of party & use it to malign NAB, judiciary & [military] to pressure them for another NRO.”

Last week, the accountability court hearing corruption references against the Sharif family issued bailable warrants for the former premier in the three references against him as he has lately been a no-show in the proceedings.

The references against the Sharif family pertain to the Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metals Establishment, their London properties and over dozen offshore companies owned by the family.
The hearing was then adjourned until November 3, with the last chance for the former premier to ensure his presence in court.
Meanwhile, he met PTI’s Shafqat Mahmood at his Bani Gala residence to discuss party issues.
