ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court on Monday issued a notice to the president of Zarai Tariqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) in a contempt of court proceedings moved by former test cricketer, Rao Iftikhar Anjum.

Justice Mohsan Akhtar Kayani, while issuing the notices to the respondents, sought a written reply from them till the next date of hearing.

Arbab Aalam Abbasi, the counsel for the former cricketer, apprised the court that his client, being a test cricketer, was appointed in the ZTBL on a contract basis and was going to be regular in compliance with earlier court orders.

He pleaded that the ZTBL instead of regularising his client transferred him to its subordinate department Kisan Supports Services Limited which was just like a private company giving no incentives to its employees.

Abbasi said that his client again approached the IHC against his transfer which was allowed by the court and directed the ZTBL to send Rao back to his parent department.

The ZTBL did send him back to his native department, but stopped his salary without any reason mentioning and violating the rules and regulations just to give mental stress to the former cricketer, Abbasi alleged.

He argued that the respondent did not follow the august court’s orders in true letter and spirit which came under the contempt of court proceedings. Subsequently, the bench while issuing notices to respondents adjourned further hearing of the case to date in office.
