ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Interior Muhammad Talal Chaudhary on Tuesday apprised the Senate that garbage was not being dumped in open areas in the federal capital, while informing that a tender has already been circulated to outsource its collection in the capital.
Replying to a query, he said both national and international companies were participating in the bidding process as its date had been extended.
Replying to another question, the minister said that repair of Simli Dam Road, which was in a dilapidated condition due to existence of various private housing societies and movement of heavy vehicular traffic, had been completed.
Talal said the work for cleanliness and maintenance of the developed portion of Fatimah Jinnah Park in F-9 sector was maintained according to set standards. Some 30 sanitary workers worked in two shifts of 15 each, while 90 gardeners were also deputed for its maintenance, he added.
He said that apart from regular maintenance carried out on daily basis, a photovoltaic solar electric project was installed to light the developed section of the park, adding that he project was in test phase.
He further said that improvements had been made in different areas, which included plantation of seasonal flowers, maintenance of jogging tracks, maintenance of lawns and construction of cycling tracks, he added.
Replying to a question, Talal said that due to an increase in vehicular traffic during the last two decades, the bridge leading to the Quaid-e-Azam University from Bari Imam was not in a good condition. The Capital Development Authority had recently repaired the damaged bridge and side railing, he added.
