LAHORE: The 549th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Guru Nanak, the founder of the Sikh faith, would commence from Thursday in Nankana Sahib.
According to an Evacuee Trust Property Board official, special security arrangements including accommodation and others have been ensured for over 3,000 Sikh pilgrims during their stay in Pakistan.
He said that CCTV cameras, walk-through gates and other facilities would be provided to the pilgrims. A tent village has already been set up for the yatrees and high power generators would be made available as back-up in case of load-shedding. The renovation of Gurdawara Nankana Sahib has already been completed.
It merits mentioning here that about 20,000 to 30,000 Sikh pilgrims from Pakistan and other countries participate in the birth celebration of Baba Guru Nanak every year.
