Khalid Khawaja murder: IHC orders to register case against Hamid Mir, Usman Punjabi

Islamabad High (IHC) Court while ordering to register a case against anchorperson Hamid Mir and Usman Punjabi for the murder of Khalid Khawaja has disposed of the application.

According to details, last Monday Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, a single member bench on the application of Tabbasum Malik heard the case. During the proceeding, Sardar Tariq Farid advocate told the court that Khalid Khawaja was taken to South Waziristan in 2010 under a plan of which audio recording was with Ramna Police Station, Islamabad. Police have been provided with all the evidences but police were evading in a traditional way to register a case.

He said Sessions Court was approached in this context and Sessions Court rejected the application on 14 June 2017.

High Court was requested to order Ramna Police Station to register a case against Hamid Mir and Usman Punjabi for the murder of Khalid Khawaja. Later, the court while approving the request, ordered SI Shafiq to register a case against Hamid Mir and Usman Punjabi.
