ISLAMABAD: The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL), comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik, has asked people to launch a mass agitation if the Indian Supreme Court delivers a verdict against the interests and aspiration of people.

Indian apex court is scheduled to hear a petition seeking abrogation of Article 35A on Monday, which debars non-Kashmiris from purchasing land or property, get a government job or vote in the Assembly elections in the Occupied Kashmir, KMS reported.

The resistance leaders in a joint statement issued in Srinagar asked people to be ready for protest against any amendment or change in the state subject laws.

They said the plan to tinker with the Article 35A, which gives special rights and privileges to the Kashmiris, is a conspiracy to create a Palestine-like situation in the occupied territory.

The joint leadership urged the civil society to raise awareness among people of the consequences if the law is repealed, adding that “we will safeguard the integrity and special status of the occupied territory at all costs,” the JRL stated.
