LAHORE: As the mercury drops significantly, demand for dry fruits has increased in the city market, despite high rates.

Roasted cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts, dates, pine dates, pistachio, peanuts and many other dry fruits are widely available in the market.

A shopkeeper at Beadon Road Saleem told media agencies that prices were high due to limited supply at the moment but customers continued to purchase dry fruits.

A consumer Waqar Ahmad expressed displeasure at the increased rates but added that dry fruits were a compulsory part of cold weather and, therefore, he was also there to buy the commodity for his family.

Besides the shops, pushcarts selling dry fruits are seen in almost all parts of the city these days.
